Joy in hand

Joy unfolds in my hands

Every time I hold Joy in my hands, I feel a warmth emanating from within.

It unravels like a delicate flower blooming, revealing its tender sense of goodness. The weightlessness of joy dances against my palms, filling my heart with a sense of contentment. I am healed.

I watch as it expands and spreads its contagious energy that I so spontaneously can capture with my iPhone 13.

Joy unfolds in my hands, sweeping away any traces of worry or sadness that I experienced as a child of two stricken with Polio.

Joy is a gift that cannot be contained but must be shared, for its essence lies in its ability to multiply and bring happiness to others.

In these moments, I am reminded of the immense power that joy holds and how it has the capacity to transform even the darkest of days.

* * *

Joy in Hand was shot with Hipstamatic app on my iPhone 13 using double exposure. I first captured my hand’s shadow cast against an igneous rock of granite. On the next shot I superimposed a spring bloom of Ceanothus (California Lilac) against an intense azure desert sky. Look closely and you’ll see into a world within reach; a World of Joy!

Once I saw it, I could see how I can capture the energy of joy in any moment and radiate it out to all around me. It’s a joy to be shared.

She is passionate about using conceptual self-portraiture as medicine to go deep into her belief systems and release those those which no longer serve her. Thus, to live in the joy of being alive!

Through this exploratory process, she realized that, although she’s lived with a physical handicap almost her entire life, she has always been a dancer. Her Dancer Series is a result of this work. Trained in the Nia Technique she is now an avid dancer, dancing through life with her husband in their passive solar home in the Sonoran/Chihauhuan desert of southeastern Arizona.
