Passionate for
Self Portraiture

I am passionate about using Self Portraiture As Medicine to go deep into my beliefs and release those which no longer serve me. My intent is to capture the energy of joy in the moment.

Living according to my minimalist lifestyle, an iPhone camera is all I need to spontaneously capture the energy of any elusive moment in time.  As a result, my images are fresh and honest with a sometimes dreamy quality, as if to say, “All is illusion” so live this moment in its pure joy.

Original, one-of-a-kind, larger-than-life Metal Prints. Through a special printing process the printed image emanates  this sense of vibrant energy.

I am a self-trained graphic artist that relies on simple shapes and forms to express a succinct thought in its simplicity.

The joy I capture is to encourage everyone to find their own joy.

“Irene Sofia’s art radiates
with the light and joy of being alive.”

Dancing into life

Through the exploratory process of self portraiture, IreneSofia realized that, although she’s lived with a physical handicap almost her entire life, she has always been a dancer. Her Dancing Into Life series is a result of this work. Trained in the Nia Technique she is now an avid dancer, dancing through life with her husband in their passive solar home in the Sonoran/Chihauhuan desert of southeastern Arizona.

Her Myself series contrasts her hand’s shadow against the light of nature revealing her strengths and joys of moving with this handicap for 73 years.

Mexican folk art, crosses, flaming hearts, Dia de la Muertes all have deep influences in  Spirit of the Soul series.

Her widespread g of double-exposure lends her images an other-worldly feel in its dreamy, blurred, questioning way.  Yet the answer is vibrantly revealed in the radiance emanating from each MetalPrint.
